Thread is designed so the developer does not receive your moments, notes, photos, check-ins, or usage activity.
What Thread stores
Thread stores the moments, labels, colors, notes, photos, events, check-ins, and preferences that you create. This information remains in the app’s local storage or its local widget container on your device.
What Thread collects
Nothing. Thread has no developer-operated server, account system, analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking technology. The developer does not receive personal data from the app.
The website remembers only your English or Chinese display choice in local browser storage. It does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.
Photos and permissions
Camera and photo-library access is requested only when you choose to attach or capture a photo. A selected photo is copied into Thread’s local storage. If you enable “Save captured photos,” a camera photo is also added to your system photo library. Thread does not transmit these photos.
Export, sharing, and deletion
Exports happen only after you request them. iOS then lets you choose where the local archive goes. Any destination you select is governed by that destination’s own privacy terms.
You can remove individual moments and check-ins, clear a day or date range, or clear all local data from within Thread. Thread first creates a recoverable local archive. Removing the app removes its sandboxed data; photos separately saved to the system photo library remain there until you delete them in Photos.
Changes and contact
If Thread’s data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy declaration will be updated before the relevant version is released.
